History of the Cathedral
St. Patrick's Cathedral has a rich and colourful history that dates back to the beginning of the town of Auckland in the early 1840s.

The development of the site on which the Cathedral sits is outlined on this page, from the acquisition of the land in 1841 through to the restoration project completed in 2007.

The Cathedral also has a number of special treasures within the building. Some of those treasures are featured on this page.
