The St Michael's Heritage Project
Welcome to the St Michaels Heritage Project website.

The purpose of this website is to keep people informed of the project work being done to preserve and enhance St Michael's Catholic Church.

St Michael's Catholic Church is located at 6 Beatrice Road, Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. It was designed by noted architects Tole and Massey and opened on 1 October 1933.

The current Seismic Retrofit and Upgrade Project required a high level of prefessional expertise and a significant amount of money! (Around $850,000) This work was completed in 2009.

The work outlined in the projects tab was the first stage of conserving the Church, a scheduled heritage building under the Auckland City District Plan. It is also registered as a Category 1 Historic Place as defined in Part II, Section 22 of the Historic Places Trust Act noted as "a place of special or outstanding historical and cultural heritage significance and value".

We want to make St Michael's Church a place for people now and into the future - a place of beauty and serenity - a place where people can say:
“This is our place. I am at home here.”
